The goal of the Infection Prevention Champions Program is for each facility/setting across the country to have a team member enroll as a Champion who acts as the link to the most current infection prevention news, helping ensure the most current and safe practices are followed. This program requires an initial subscription of $325 running from either January through December (winter session)or June through May (spring session). The subscription includes Champions-only access to resources including the High-Level Disinfection Wall Chart, High-Level Disinfection DVD, Train the Trainer competency checklist and the Infection Prevention Module of the Associates Program. The program also offers access to the Champions-only discussion forum and a bi-monthly newsletter from SGNA Headquarters.
Who Should Be Your Unit's Champion?
SGNA encourages the unit's manager to enroll an Infection Prevention Champion for your unit. Any clinical member of your team (nurse or associate) can become the Champion. Do you have a keen interest in new GI/endoscopy developments? Do you have a team member who is eager to take a leadership role within the unit? This is an ideal opportunity for a colleague or you to provide key information that will directly impact patient safety and quality care.
The Champion will serve for a one-year term for whichever enrollment cycle (winter or spring) chosen. The Champion has the responsibility to be familiar with and communicate practice guidelines and industry practice changes to their peers. You can learn more about this role by viewing the detailed Champion job description.
How Can You Enroll Your Unit?
Each participating facility needs to complete an application online.
